“Megan’s Blue Book”

Prevention Magazine
October 2004 Issue
By Sara Altshul

When their daughter, Megan, 19, died from a rare form of bone cancer, Patt and Mary Helen Hayes were left with bittersweet memories – and the medical journal they’d created to organize the 2 tumultuous years of Megan’s intensive cancer treatments.

They called it Megan’s Blue Book. A plastic-bound divided-by-topic loose-leaf journal, it corralled appointments, prescription info, test results, and more.

At the encouragement of Megan’s doctors, her parents have made the journal system – Megswork Patient Medical Journal ($40) – available in two versions: one for cancer, one for other conditions.
